Arnie Teves To “Virtually Attend” Senate Investigation on Roel Degamo Slay

Secretary of Cong. Arnie Teves Confirms Attendance of Lawmaker to Degamo Slay Senate Probe

ARNIE TEVES – The Negros Oriental 3rd District Representative will virtually attend the Senate investigation over the death of the late Negros Oriental Governor Roel Degamo.

The name of Cong. Arnolfo Teves Jr. is implicated in the killing of the late Negros Oriental former Gov. Roel Degamo. On March 4 of this year, men barged into the compound of the then-Governor in Pamplona and lodged their motive that resulted to the Governor’s death.

Degamo’s ally and several civilians who were at his compound during that time to ask for help regarding their individual situations were also killed in the incident. The family of the victims called for justice over the death of their loved ones from an unexpected tragic event.

One of the suspects tagged Cong. Arnie Teves who was already in abroad when the incident happened as the alleged “mastermind” behind the plot to assassinate Gov. Roel Degamo. Their family and the late Governor are political rivals in the province.

According to the Department of Justice (DOJ), 7-8 suspects who are in the hands of the authorities pointed to the involvement of Teves in the plot. The lawmaker refused to go home to the Philippines despite the calls for him and the expiry of his travel clearance for concern over his safety.

Recently, it was confirmed that Cong. Arnie Teves will be attending the Senate investigation on the slay of Gov. Roel Degamo on Monday, April 17. However, based on a report on ABS-CBN News, he will be attending the probe “virtually”.

The attendance of Teves was confirmed by his Secretary to the Senate. According to Senator Ronald “Bato” dela Rosa, it might be the Congressman’s way to air his side so he agreed to attend the investigation virtually. The Senator takes it as a good sign that he is cooperating in the case.
