Many Filipinos work abroad to provide their families with a more comfortable life in the Philippines. Even though they are away from home, there are loan offers designed specifically to help these OFWs achieve their goals for themselves and their loved ones.

In the Philippines, one of the loan-providing institutions that has offers for OFWs is the Bank of the Philippine Islands. More commonly known as BPI, it has several loan products available for Filipinos who are working overseas.
The Bank of the Philippine Islands got the excellent BPI Car Loan offer but it also has the multi-purpose BPI Personal Loan. Also known as the BPI cash loan, countless Filipinos have availed this offer to meet different needs.

The Personal Loan is versatile and can be used for different purposes. You may apply for it to expand a business, host an event, make a personal purchase, travel, etc. While the BPI Cash Loan requirements vary depending on the applicant, the qualifications and documents are generally attainable.

Eligibility Requirements
Before reviewing the BPI Cash Loan requirements, it is an edge to first check on the qualifications:
- A Filipino citizen
- At least 21 years old at the time of application
- Not older than 60 years upon loan maturity
- Proof of income:
- If employed, the applicant must have a minimum gross monthly income of Php 20,000
- If self-employed, the applicant must be the owner or majority stockholder with at least 40% stake in the business, earning a minimum gross monthly income of Php 50,000. The business must have been profitably operating for at least two (2) years with one (1) trade reference
BPI Cash Loan Requirements for OFWs
If you are an OFW applying for the loan, prepare and submit the following documents:
- Duly accomplished and signed BPI Personal Loan Application Form
- One (1) government-issued ID with photo
- POEA contract or employment contract with boarding date if hired through a recruitment agency
- For OFWs who are directly hired, submit the following:
- Proof of remittance for the last three months
- Latest and unexpired POEA validated information sheet or latest POEA Overseas Employment Certificate (OEC)
- Employment Contract
- Consularized Certificate of Employment
Accepted Identification Documents
As part of the BPI Cash Loan requirements, applicants must present one (1) valid ID. The accepted IDs include:
- Passport
- Professional Regulatory Commission (PRC) ID
- Driver’s License
- Postal ID
- Voter’s ID
- Government Service Insurance System (GSIS) e-Card
- Taxpayer Identification Number (TIN)
- Social Security System (SSS) card
- Overseas Workers Welfare Administration (OWWA) ID
- Senior Citizen card
- Government office and Government-owned and Controlled Corporation (GOCC) ID (e.g., Armed Forces of the Philippines (AFP), Home Development Mutual Fund (HDMF) IDs)
- Overseas Filipino Worker (OFW) ID
- ID issued by the National Council on Disability Affairs
- Integrated Bar of the Philippines (IBP) ID
- PhilHealth Health Insurance Card ng Bayan
- Company IDs issued by private entities or institutions registered with or supervised by the Bangko Sentral ng Pilipinas (BSP), Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC), or Insurance Commission (IC)
- National Bureau of Investigation (NBI) Clearance
- Barangay Certification
- Police Clearance
- Alien Certificate of Registration / Immigrant Certificate of Registration (not applicable for Housing Loan)
- PhilSys Digital ID
- Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD) Certification
- Seaman’s Book
- Printed ePhilID
- Professional ID cards issued by Maritime Industry Authority (MARINA)
Applicable Fees
BPI applies the following charges to approved loan applications:
- One-time processing fee — Php 1,500 (deducted from loan proceeds)
- Documentary Stamps Tax — Php 1.50 for every Php 200.00 for loans exceeding Php 250,000 or loans intended for business purposes
