Sen. Pia Cayetano Didn’t Initially Want To Be A Lawyer
PIA CAYETANO – The Senator revealed that she did not really want to be a lawyer and she wanted to be a chiropractor then.
It is no secret to the Filipino people that the Senate was recently surrounded by a lot of issues — the plunder charges and detention of two (2) senators, the alleged faked firing incident inside the chamber, the supposed “escape” of Sen. Bato dela Rosa, and a lot more. Undeniably, former Senate Pres. Alan Peter Cayetano earned a lot of criticisms amid the recent happenings.
A lot of incidents in the chamber took place under the watch of now-Senate Minority Leader Alan Peter Cayetano. Following the controversial election of now-Senate Pres. Sherwin Gatchalian as the Senate president pro tempore then, the minority bloc insisted on pushing through with the flood control hearing.
Sen. Pia Cayetano and Sen. Robin Padilla escorted the “18 ex-marines” who allegedly worked for Zaldy Co before. Senator Pia was also one of the senators who were present at the chamber when the firing incident took place.
Sen. Pia Cayetano even caught the social media attention when she expressed her disappointment after none of their fellow senators in the other bloc allegedly asked how they were following the firing incident. It started the “Kumusta ka” tag on the Senator.
The Senator also drew some remarks and open letters online amid the instances when she explains the law during the ongoing impeachment trial of Vice Pres. Sara Duterte. Recently, through a social media post, the Senator revealed that she did not really intend to be a lawyer.
According to Sen. Pia Cayetano, it was Senate Minority Leader Alan Peter Cayetano who wanted to be a lawyer ever since they were young. She claimed that she almost did not become a lawyer.
“Kaya ho akong nag-aabalang magpaliwanag ng batas kasi you know guys, muntik na akong hindi maging lawyer. Actually hindi muntik. Ito si Alan bata pa lang ‘yan gusto na mag abogado kasi I’m almost five (5) years older than Alan… So ‘yung mga friends ko, ‘Si Alan, ‘yung kapatid mo, ang bata-bata laging may hawak na dictionary kasi nga gusto mag abogado. Ako hindi ko gusto mag abogado,” she said.
Sen. Pia Cayetano further spoke and revealed that she wanted to be a teacher like their mother. Their father was a lawyer. Senate Minority Leader Alan Peter Cayetano raised that there was also a point in her life when she wanted to be a chiropractor and she confirmed it.
“Gusto ko mag teacher kapareho ng mommy ko… Gusto ko mag chiropractor. Iisa pa lang ‘yung chiropractor sa Pilipinas noon gusto ko na mag chiropractor. Ang hilig ko talaga is sa katawan eh. ‘Yung sports, palakasin ‘yung katawan… A healthy body is a healthy mind,” the elder Cayetano said.
According to Sen. Pia Cayetano, she did not even know then what specific law to practice as she did not really intend to be a lawyer. Meanwhile, based on the post, the Senator stressed that she is really taking her job seriously, thus, she explains the law citing that there’s who have less should know more about the law.
“Wala namang intensyon na gawin na teknikal na pahirapan. ‘Yung bilin naman ni Daddy talaga is well ‘yung kanyang practice mismo is ipaliwanag ang batas. ‘Yun ang job natin,” she said based on the post.
Recently, veteran actress and beauty queen Gloria Diaz slammed Sen. Pia Cayetano for allegedly sounding irritating.
