LTO Summons Motorcycle Rider to Explain After Damaging SUV
LTO has ordered a motorcycle rider to explained after counterflowing and striking the side mirror of an incoming SUV.
The Land Transportation Office (LTO) has issued a Show Cause Order against the registered owner and the alleged rider of a motorcycle involved in a road incident. The order came after a video shared by the Road Safety Advocates of the Philippines circulated on social media.
In the video, the rider entered the lane meant for oncoming traffic and nearly collided with an approaching SUV. The situation quickly became dangerous as both vehicles tried to avoid an accident.

The rider was seen attempting to squeeze through a narrow space to continue moving forward. However, before leaving the area, he allegedly struck the side mirror of the SUV. The incident was captured on camera and sparked discussions among road users about safety and responsible driving.
Aside from the counterflow violation, investigators also noticed what appeared to be unauthorized accessories attached to the motorcycle. These accessories are now part of the ongoing investigation being conducted by the LTO.
Authorities are looking into several possible violations, including reckless driving, driving against the flow of traffic, and allowing an unauthorized person to operate a motor vehicle. The registered owner and the rider have been instructed to appear before the LTO’s Intelligence and Investigation Division and submit sworn statements regarding the incident.
As part of the agency’s initial action, the motorcycle involved in the incident has been placed under alarm status. The rider’s driver’s license has also been suspended for 90 days while the investigation is ongoing.
The LTO emphasized that road safety remains a top priority and that irresponsible behavior on public roads will not be tolerated. Officials reminded motorists to follow traffic rules at all times and show respect to fellow road users to help prevent accidents and conflicts on the road.
The social media users expressed their reactions to the post:
