Risa Hontiveros talked about her political plans
Senator Risa Hontiveros said in a recent interview that she is “seriously considering” running for president in the 2028 elections.
Hontiveros started her political career as a party-list representative back in 2004, after working as a broadcast journalist.
In 2010, she started her journey in national politics when she ran for senator. After serving as one of the Board of Directors of the Philippine Health Insurance Corporation (PhilHealth), under the administration of former President Noynoy Aquino in 2015, she returned to the Senate in 2016.

Currently, Sen. Risa Hontiveros is the Chairperson of the Senate Committee on Women, Children, Family Relations and Gender Equality, and among the members of the minority bloc.
In a recent interview on Political Beat, hosted by Lourd de Veyra, Hontiveros said that she is preparing for the possibility of running for president.
“Ako ay seryosong nagko-consider sa possibility kaya naghahanda sa posibilidad na iyon,” she said.
The female senator also said that by the end of this year, or the latest first quarter next year, whoever among her allies has the highest survey rating, they will support all the way, whether it is her or the others. “There can be only one, para may fighting chance,” Hontiveros said.

When asked if it would be “Risa-Bam” or “Bam-Risa” in the 2028 elections, she said that, as of now, the opposition is not yet talking about this.
For now, speaking for herself only, she stressed that she is preparing for the possibility. “Pag umabot na sa isang step na ako, or isa pa, iba pa, ay maging standard bearer namin, saka papasok yung ganiyang usapan ng kung sino ang katandem,” she said.
Meanwhile, back in February, Sen. Risa Hontiveros already expressed that she is open to running for president or vice president in the 2028 elections. As early as that time, the female senator already received support from the Magdalo group of former Senator Antonio Trillanes.
