Bearwin Meily Shares How Faith Saved His Marriage After Heartbreaking Cheating Revelation
BEARWIN MEILY – What seemed like a strong marriage was shaken by betrayal, but Bearwin Meily chose a path of faith and forgiveness.
Many netizens admired the strength and unwavering faith of Filipino comedian Bearwin Meily after he openly shared the painful chapter in his marriage involving his wife, Lara Meily.
The couple revisited the challenges they faced in their married life—trials that tested not only their love but also their commitment to each other. Lara candidly admitted that she cheated on Bearwin, an act that nearly destroyed their relationship as husband and wife.
“I was a housewife for like 18 or 15 years. So, I had the desire. Probably, I would say I got bored,” Lara revealed during their guest appearance on the YouTube channel of Toni Gonzaga, “Toni Talks.”
She shared that Bearwin even knew the man she got involved with, which initially started as a simple friendship. “All of a sudden, it led to messaging and texting, until to the point na I would hide it. So ‘yung desire led to temptation and then it led to sin.”
Bearwin admitted that he had sensed something unusual between his wife and the other man, prompting him to take steps to prevent the situation from escalating. However, Lara confessed she never thought she would reach the point of betraying her husband. “Because complacent ako na hindi mangyayari sa akin ‘yan. But, siyempre di ba, kapag pa-hulog ka na, dyina-justify mo na lahat.”
Reflecting on their experience, Bearwin said, “’Yung sinasabi ni Lara, I praise God for that because hindi ako nagkulang sa kanya. Kaya lang siguro ang naging problem is ‘yung freedom. Siguro medyo naging maluwag ako sa kaniya.
“At some point, nagkaroon din ako ng pagkukulang, pinayagan ko rin siya, eh. Nagpapaalam sila, sinasabi ko ‘wag na, kasi nakikita ko may connection na kayo eh’.
“Pero darating ‘yung point na ‘yon na sasabihin nila, ‘sige na please, wala namang masama eh’. Ii-insist niya, pinapayagan ko siya. Doon na ‘yun lumala. We don’t set boundaries,” said Bearwin.
During that time, although they were attending Christ’s Commission Fellowship, Lara admitted she had lost focus. “There’s no guilt nu’ng mga time na ‘yon because I was enjoying. My mentor would teach, but I am busy with my phone,” she said.
At one point, Lara was ready to leave her family, but a life-changing moment stopped her. “Umalis ako ng bahay. Imi-meet ko ‘yung guy. Doon sa door ng taxi merong gospel tract. It says there, ‘Ano ang pinakamahalagang desisyon ng buhay mo?’
“Kinikilabutan ako. You just have to be honest to the Lord. Sabihin mo sa Kaniya ‘Hindi mo kaya, nagkamali ka, hindi mo alam kung paano ka makakaalis doon sa sitwasyon mo.’ You just have to be honest to the Lord.
“When I met the guy, I told him, ‘It’s enough,’” said Lara.
Through an email, Lara confessed everything to Bearwin, causing him deep pain. “May times na sweet pa naman si Lara sa akin, but ‘yung sweetness niya, alam ko na there’s something. Nararamdaman ko na, parang fake… I was really crying to the Lord.
“I know it’s happening, but I’m praying to God, sabi ko ‘Huwag sana, huwag sana.’ Kaya lang, pinayagan ni Lord. Kahit alam kong fake, I tried to understand her,” Bearwin shared.
Forgiveness, however, did not come easily. “Every time I feel an attack, sabi ko palagi, ‘Lord, I forgive my wife, I love my wife.
“Hangga’t hindi mo nakikilala si Lord, hindi mo maiintindihan kung paano mo magagawang (magpatawad). Sino bang perpekto? Makasalanan din ako. Pinatawad lang din ako ni Lord. Magulo rin ako. Bastos din ‘yung pag-iisip ko. Sino bang malinis?”
“In the midst of that challenge, I know that the Lord is with me. I know that the Lord forgave me; therefore, I should love and forgive my wife,” he added emotionally.
Today, the couple’s relationship has been restored. In fact, they are now actively involved in counseling other married couples who are going through similar struggles, including issues of infidelity—turning their painful past into a source of hope for others.
