Sara Duterte Leads Recent 2028 Presidential Race Survey

VP Sara Duterte is still the top choice for president

A recent national survey by the nonpartisan firm WR Numero shows that Vice President Sara Duterte remains the top choice for the 2028 presidential race.

VP Sara is the first to announce her intention to run for President in the 2028 elections. In February, the Vice President held a press conference, and this came as a surprise for many Filipinos when she announced her political plans.

For some critics, this would be a downfall for her since past instances showed that early announcement did not equate to victory. However, for some people, this was a strategic move for her political career, especially amid the impeachment complaints against her.

In a recent survey, despite VP Sara Duterte’s approval and trust ratings decreasing, it is still higher than what President Bongbong Marcos got.

Based on the report from SunStar Davao, the March 2026 survey by WR Numero stated that VP Sara remains the frontrunner for the 2028 presidential race with 36 percent support, showing a slight increase from late 2025.

Her closest challengers are Senator Raffy Tulfo with 19 percent and former VP Leni Robredo with 16 percent.

Other potential candidates were Senators Bong Go and Bam Aquino, who currently tied at 4 percent or lower, but 19 percent of voters remain undecided.

The vice presidential race is a neck-and-neck game for Senators Bong Go, Grace Poe, and Robin Padilla, who are currently tied for the lead at 12 percent each.

The previous stronger lead of Sen. Go has dipped, while Poe and Padilla have gained momentum. In the survey, it was shown that newcomer Senator Rodante Marcoleta gained 8 percent support, followed by Senator Risa Hontiveros at 6 percent.

However, a notable 25 percent of Filipinos have yet to choose a preferred vice presidential candidate in the 2028 elections.
