Family Touches Many Hearts After Using Improvised Oxygen Device for Sick Father
A family touched many hearts online after making an improvised oxygen device for their sick father because they could not afford to buy one.
Recently, Rainiel Bonancia, a Facebook user, shared a video of their improvised oxygen made using a bucket, a clip fan, and an old hose for their sick father. The post quickly went viral and gained various reactions online.
The family from Sagñay, Camarines Sur, used simple materials such as a bucket, a clip fan, and an old hose to come up with a way to provide airflow for their father, Jeorge, who is 47 years old.

Jeorge has been battling several illnesses affecting his kidneys, liver, heart, and lungs, making it difficult for him to breathe at times.
According to his son Rainiel, who is 24 years old, their family has been struggling financially. Despite being a large family with ten siblings, they could not keep up with the rising cost of living and the expensive price of oxygen tanks. They tried to find a way to help their father using what they had at home.
The idea for the improvised setup came from Jeorge himself. With the help of a relative, they created a simple device where air from the electric fan passes through a bucket with small holes and a plastic bottle with a little water.
“Si Papa po ang nagsabi kaya ginawa namin ni Tito. Dumidiretso ’yung hangin ng electric fan sa binutas na balde at plastik na bote. Nilagyan namin ng kaunting tubig,” Rainiel said.
While it is not a replacement for medical oxygen, the family hoped it could at least provide some relief.
Jeorge used to work as a carpenter, but due to his condition, he has been going in and out of the hospital. Aside from oxygen, he also needs a nebulizer, milk, and regular medication, which adds to the family’s burden.

Despite everything, the family continues to stay hopeful. When his condition improves, Jeorge hopes to take part in the Way of the Cross during Holy Week, showing his strong faith and desire to keep going.
