Pres. Bongbong Marcos Speaks on Soaring Oil Costs in PH amid the Ongoing Middle East War
BONGBONG MARCOS – The President stressed that the global oil prices cannot be controlled and it is the truth that everyone is dealing with.
The ongoing war in the Middle East did not only affect the countries involved — the United States, Israel, and Iran. Several other countries are now faced with soaring oil costs after the U.S. and Israel launched joint airstrikes against Iran that killed many people.

U.S. Pres. Donald Trump claimed that the attack was allegedly to stop Iran from acquiring nuclear power. The American President further claimed that it was supposedly meant to stop Iran from destroying the world.
Amid the soaring oil costs which the U.S. President believes would be “short-term”, Trump warned Iran not to block the global oil flow or it might be attacked much harder. However, such warning was not taken by Iran.

Iran told the world to prepare for oil to hit $200 per barrel. Following the attack, Tehran placed restrictions in the passage at the Strait of Hormuz, the waterway where most of the vessels carrying oil from the Gulf pass. Ships that are linked to U.S. and Israel are not allowed to pass through the waterway.
The ongoing war in the Middle East has caused the pump prices in the Philippines to increase at a very unexpected and challenging level. It has led the cost of diesel to be at P140 per liter after a series of three (3) bigtime oil price hikes.

The Philippine government has started giving out fuel subsidies to the public utility vehicle (PUV) drivers. Transport strikes have been held and another transport strike is set today. Recently, amid the soaring oil costs in the Philippines, Pres. Bongbong Marcos stressed that the global oil prices is something that we do not have a control over.

Based on News5, Pres. Bongbong Marcos emphasized that the oil prices in the global market cannot be controlled and he wants the priority of the Philippine government to be clear to the people.
“Nais kong maging malinaw tungkol sa aming prayoridad. Hindi natin kontrolado ang presyo ng langis sa mundo. ‘Yan ang katotohanan na ating hinaharap,” the President said.
Based on the post, Pres. Bongbong Marcos stressed that what should not happen is that the Filipino people will feel all the burden brought by the situation that they have nothing to do with. According to him, the government now has a common basis amid the situation and it is to prioritize the help in the everyday expenses of the Filipino families.
“Ngunit ang hindi maaaring mangyari ay maramdaman ng bawat Pilipino ang buong bigat nitong mga pangyayari na wala naman silang kinalaman. Isa lamang ang aming pamantayan — agaran, pinakamabilis, at direktang mararamdaman ng ordinaryong Pilipino, hindi bukas, hindi sa susunod na Linggo, ngayon, sa pagkain, sa pamasahe, sa kuryente,” he said.
Recently, Marcos Jr. also explained his decision of declaring a State of National Energy Emergency in the Philippines amid the claims of the government that the oil supply in the country is sufficient.
