Female Nursing Student Helps Unconscious Motorist Lying Along the Road
A female nursing student earns praises online for helping an unconscious motorist lying along a street in Taguig City.
Danzen Valdez, a graduating nursing student, was on her way to school when she learned about a man lying on the road. Without wasting time, she went to check on the situation.
While others watched in worry and confusion, she calmly assessed the surroundings and approached the victim with care. She checked for signs of life, made sure the area was safe, and carefully removed the man’s helmet.
Realizing that the man needed urgent help, she immediately began performing CPR. Even though it was her first time doing it outside a hospital, she focused on what she had learned in school.
“Then, pumunta po yung mommy ko sa kwarto ko po para sabihin na, may lalaking nakahiga sa kasada, tingnan mo kung ano nangyari. Tapos, pinuntahan ko po yung lalaki, chineck ko po yung surroundings, chineck ko po yung pulso, pinatanggal ko po muna yung helmet ng dahan-dahan. Tapos, nung narealize ko na po yung gravity ng situation, dun ko po na isip na, ah, kailangan na neto ng CPR,” Valdez
Instead of panic, her training guided her actions. Her sense of duty as a future nurse pushed her to do everything she could in that moment.
Valdez later shared that helping others has always been her purpose. She explained that personal fears and emotions must be set aside when life is at risk. For her, what mattered most was giving the patient a chance to survive.
She also reminded the public that CPR should only be done by those with proper knowledge and training. She encouraged communities and schools to strengthen basic life support education so more people can respond during emergencies.
Although the motorist was later declared dead at the hospital, many still praised Valdez for her quick response. The victim’s family expressed their deep gratitude for her effort.
As she prepares to graduate, Valdez carries with her the values shaped by her family’s support and her dream to serve others.
