Former Vice President and incumbent Naga City Mayor Leni Robredo showed that she was still working while she was already sick, and this received reactions from her daughters.
Mayor Leni is one of the most popular political figures in the Philippines. She is the wife of the late former Department of the Interior and Local Government (DILG) Sectretary Jesse Robredo, first handled a local government positio when she won as a congresswoman in 2013.
In 2016, she ran for vice president as the running mate of former DILG Secretary Mar Roxas. She won and served as the second-highest government official in the Philippines until 2022. In that year, she ran for president with her running mate now-Senator Kiko Pangilinan.
However, she was not triumphant, and three years later, she returned to the local political scene, as she was elected as the mayor of Naga City.
Just recently, Mayor Leni Robredo became a trending topic on social media because of her photo riding a public bus from her home province to Manila for an important event. This garnered polarizing comments, as her critics accused her of it being just a PR stunt, but her supporters admired her humility.
The Mayor’s recent Facebook post once again caught the attention of the online community. It was a screenshot of her group chat with her daughters, Aika, Tricia, and Jillian.
In their conversation, Aika sent a photo of Mayor Leni wearing her pyjamas, but still, documents were in front of her. Aika asked for an update. Then, Jillian told her mom to stop working, and the mayor’s reply to this was “Lol” or laughing out loud. Aika sent another message telling Mayor Leni, “Pahinga mum.”
“First time during my term that I got sick, enough to keep me away from the office. Apologies to those who had events I failed to attend. Thanks to our doc friends who are always to the rescue,” the politician wrote in the caption of her post.
