Ride-Hailing App Driver Earns Only P3 After 12 Hours Due to High Fuel PricesĀ

Ride-Hailing Driver Earns OnlyĀ P3 After 12 Hours on the RoadĀ

A ride-hailing app driver expressed his frustration after earning only P3 from 12 hours of driving due to the high cost of fuel.

Recently, a Facebook user named Brendo Castro shared his sentiments about how rising fuel prices have greatly affected his daily income. The post quickly went viral and received various reactions online.

Castro started his day around 7:50 AM with a full schedule ahead. Before taking his first passenger, he already spent P1,000 on fuel. Throughout the day, he continued accepting bookings, driving through traffic, heat, and long hours just to complete as many trips as possible.

By the end of his shift around 8:20 PM, his total earnings from the app reached P1,953. At first glance, it seemed like a decent amount. However, once he deducted his daily expenses, the reality became clear.

After subtracting P1,000 for fuel, P900 for car rental, and P50 for mobile load, he was left with only P3.

Many drivers like him spend long hours on the road, hoping to earn enough to support their families. But with rising fuel prices and other daily costs, their take-home pay continues to shrink.

Despite the hardship, the driver shared that he will continue working the next day. Like many others, he carries the responsibility of providing for his family, no matter how difficult the situation becomes.

ā€œ12 KA ORAS NGA PAMASADA, 3 PESOS NGA SOBRA

I started at 7:50 AM with 122 km left on my gas. Before accepting my first booking, nagpa gas ko ug 1,000 ug nahimong 270 akong km range.

Then I drove the whole day mostly on auto-accept. Passenger after passenger. Traffic, init, long hours.

Pareho sa tanan nga mga nanginabuhi ilabina sa mga nagapamasada, naningkamot ta para sa atong tagsa tagsa ka pamilya. Para sa kaayuhan ug kaugmaon sa atong mga anak.

8:20 PM, human sa 12 oras sa kalsada, I checked my earnings.

Total Grab income: ₱1,953

But here’s the reality:

₱1,953

– ₱1,000 Gas

– ₱900 Car rental

– ₱50 Load

After 12 hours of work… TRES PESOS PARA SA PAMILYA.

TRES PESOS,ā€ Castro wrote.
