Sara Duterte Criticizes Marcos Over Leadership & Public Funds Issues

Vice President Sara Drops Strong Words Against Marcos Performance

SARA DUTERTE – Vice President Sara Duterte did not hold back as she shared her blunt assessment of the current administration.

Vice President Sara Duterte has publicly criticized President Ferdinand Marcos Jr., saying the country’s leader has several shortcomings in his role. The remarks came following statements she made in a video uploaded by NewsWatch Plus PH on Monday, March 16, 2026.

In the video, Duterte directly expressed her concerns about the President’s performance, particularly in showing empathy toward the Filipino people. “Marami siyang kakulangan bilang Presidente,” she said at the start of her statement. She continued by emphasizing that the issue goes beyond emotional connection with citizens, adding, “Hindi lamang sa pagbibigay ng simpatya at empathy sa ating mga kababayan.”

The Vice President further pointed out that aside from what she described as a lack of empathy, there are also issues surrounding the handling of public funds that need to be addressed. “More than that ay ‘yong problema at iskandalo sa paggamit ng pera ng bayan,” she said.

As of this writing, there has been no direct response or official statement from President Marcos or Malacañang regarding Duterte’s latest remarks. The absence of an immediate reaction leaves the public awaiting clarification or rebuttal from the administration.

This is not the first time Duterte has raised concerns about the current administration. Earlier, on March 11, 2026, she also questioned what she perceived as a lack of action from the government amid looming threats of war. “Wala tayong nakikita na ginagawa ng administrasyon,” she said, adding, “Ang banta ng giyera, narinig na natin ‘yan noong taong 2022 pa lang.”

According to the Vice President, warnings about a possible conflict had long been discussed in briefings, particularly those involving foreign governments. “Nakita na natin ‘yan sa lahat ng mga briefers, lalong lalo na doon galing sa foreign governments na meron silang tinitingnan na posibleng giyera ng taon na 2025,” she explained. She concluded by saying, “Nangyari ang giyera 2026.”

Meanwhile, Palace Press Officer Claire Castro responded to Duterte’s earlier remarks on March 12, 2026, reminding her that her father, former President Rodrigo Duterte, was still in office in 2022. Castro also remarked that perhaps the Vice President had her own “crystal ball” to predict the alleged Middle East conflict.
