This is why Vilma Santos is no longer interested in doing films.
“Star For All Seasons” Vilma Santos has decided to stop making films for now, and this is the significant reason why.
Veteran actress Vilma Santos has starred in many influential Filipino films across decades. Some of her most iconic movies that helped define her legendary career included Sister Stella L. (1984), Anak (2000), Dekada ’70 (2002), Bata, Bata… Paano Ka Ginawa? (1998), Dolzura Cortez Story (1993), and Everything About Her (2016).

The last film she did was “Uninvited,” a Metro Manila Film Festival official entry.
Recently, in an interview, the Star For All Seasons shared that she has decided to stop making films. This way, she can focus on serving her term as governor of Batangas. She is putting this in the backseat for now because with everything that is happening, she has to make sure to serve the people who trusted her.
She wants to give her undivided attention to her constituents.
“The challenges we are facing now, I am the mother of Batangas, yun muna priority ko. Kailangan magabayan pangangailangan nila. yung ang first priority ko,” she explained.
In the future, she will consider making films again and will also look into making another independent film, following “Ekstra.” This is her first and only indie project to date.
She said during the special screening of “Ekstra” held in Manila City on Sunday, “Nag-usap kami ni Direk Jeff, may hinahanap siya na script for me. Just in case meron ulit, I do not mind doing an indie film. Sa haba ng career ko, isang indie lang nagawa ko.”
Meanwhile, in a previous article, Santos was unhappy over Bong Suntay’s remarks about Anne Curtis. She believes it’s about time men learn to seriously treat women with respect.
She also pushed back against the idea that women are disrespected because of the clothes they wear, emphasizing that clothing should be a matter of personal choice. According to her, everyone—especially women—should have the freedom to wear what they are comfortable in and what they feel best represents who they are.
