Sen. Jinggoy Estrada Intends to Travel with Family during the Holy Week
JINGGOY ESTRADA – The Senator is seeking for a permission to be allowed to travel out of the Philippines for a “personal trip”.
The supposed multi-billion flood control corruption in the Philippine government led thousands of Filipinos to the streets for the protest. In 2025, the so-called Trillion Peso March was held twice.

Aside from several officials of the Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH) as well as several members of the House of Representatives, some members of the Senate were also tagged in the flood control mess. The chamber even had a shakeup amid the issue.
Sen. Jinggoy Estrada is one of the senators linked to the alleged flood control corruption. The Senator denied the allegation. From being the Senate President Pro Tempore, he joined the Senate minority bloc.

Prior to the supposed multi-billion flood control issue, countless Filipinos were left disappointed by the controversial Pork Barrel scam. The alleged corruption through the Priority Development Assistance Fund or PDAF dragged some names including Estrada.
The Sandiganbayan has previously acquitted Sen. Jinggoy Estrada from plunder charges in connection with the P200 million Pork Barrel scam but the court denied his motion to drop the related graft cases.

Based on a report on PhilStar, amid the flood control charges against him, Sen. Jinggoy Estrada is seeking for a permission to travel abroad with his family during the Holy Week. His request reportedly comes amid an existing precautionary hold departure order in connection with the supposed flood control mess.
The existing PHDO was reportedly issued by the Manila Regional Trial Court Branch 52 last February 10. With regards to his request, based on the report, the Senator intends to travel to Hong Kong, Macau and Japan from March 31 to April 5.
Estrada is currently out because of the bail he posted. Recently, he earned massive criticisms over his question during a Senate committee’s session on the naturalization of foreign athletes.

Sen. Jinggoy Estrada was heavily criticized for jokingly matching up Sen. Kiko Pangilinan with Gilas Pilipinas’ Elizabeth Jeanette Means during the Senate session. He initially asked Means if she had a Filipino boyfriend to which the Fil-Am athlete answered in the negative. After she responded, Estrada jested that Pangilinan might want to “apply”.
While the scene sparked laughter in the Senate, it earned the Senator backlash. Amid the criticisms, Sen. Jinggoy Estrada defended his move to ask Elizabeth Means about having a Filipino boyfriend.
