Davao Mayor Baste Duterte Asserts Preparedness of Duterte Family on Dad Rodrigo’s ICC Case
DUTERTE FAMILY – Davao Mayor Baste Duterte stressed that they, including former President Rodrigo Duterte, are prepared for any result of the case before the International Criminal Court (ICC).
Amid the confirmation of charges hearing that was recently conducted by the ICC from February 23 to 27, lawyer Nicholas Kaufman claimed that former Pres. Rodrigo Duterte wants to be remembered as a “faithful servant of the people”. The former Chief Executive skipped the confirmation of charges hearing and was only represented by his lawyers.
Duterte stressed that he does not recognize the jurisdiction of the ICC over him. According to the former President, he is old and frail and wants the foreign court to respect his peace in the cell they placed him in.
Lawyer Nicholas Kaufman claimed that the former President is allegedly not monitoring the legal proceedings with the ICC. According to the British-Israeli lead counsel of the former President, he remains to inform Duterte about the proceedings as part of his job.
Vice Pres. Sara Duterte previously claimed that we should allegedly assume that the ICC will really imprison former Pres. Rodrigo Duterte as the recent events supposedly point to it. She even consider the foreign court as biased.
Currently, it is Davao City Mayor Baste Duterte and their youngest sister, Kitty Duterte, who are in The Hague, Netherlands to visit former Pres. Rodrigo Duterte. The Duterte siblings are taking turns in visiting their father inside the ICC detention facility.
There was only one time when the Duterte siblings were allowed to visit former Pres. Rodrigo Duterte altogether as requested by the former Chief Executive. According to VP Sara, their father was really happy that they were able to visit him altogether.
Recently, during an interview outside the ICC detention facility in The Hague, Davao Mayor Baste Duterte asserted that they are prepared for any eventuality with regards to the case against former Pres. Rodrigo Duterte before the foreign court. The former President is accused of three (3) counts of murder as alleged crimes against humanity.
Based on News5, Davao City Mayor Baste Duterte added that even former Pres. Rodrigo Duterte is prepared for any result of the ICC case against him. Based on the post, he stressed that they are not there just to cry.
“We were always prepared. Even my father is prepared. Wala kami dito para iiyak lang, you know, it’s politics. Most of it, most of it is politics,” the Davao Mayor said.
Davao City Mayor Baste Duterte also has an advice for the Filipino people in choosing the next president of the country as he cited his father.
