Amid the Calls to End Political Dynasty in PH Gov’t, DILG Secretary Jonvic Remulla Breaks his Silence
DILG SECRETARY – Interior Chief Jonvic Remulla expressed his support to the anti-political dynasty bill being pushed in the Congress.
The Philippine government is undeniably filled with several political clans. The Marcoses, the Aquinos, the Dutertes, and the Dys are among the families with several members holding government posts. Amid the call to end political dynasty in the country, presidential son and Ilocos Norte Congressman Sandro Marcos who is also the House Majority Leader initiated a proposed measure in line with the matter.

Ilocos Norte Cong. Sandro Marcos, together with House Speaker Bojie Dy, previously filed an anti-political dynasty bill. The move came amid Pres. Bongbong Marcos wanting five (5) bills which are as follows prioritized:
- Anti-Dynasty bill
- Independent People’s Commission Act bill
- Party-list System Reform Act bill
- Citizens Access and Disclosure of Expenditures for National Accountability or CADENA Act bill

Both Ilocos Norte Cong. Sandro Marcos and House Speaker Bojie Dy came from political families. The younger Marcos is the eldest son of Pres. Bongbong Marcos and his other family members in politics include Senator Imee Marcos, his aunt; Ilocos Norte Vice Governor Matthew Marcos Manotic, his cousin and Senator Imee’s son; and former House Speaker and Leyte Congressman Martin Romualdez, his uncle.
House Speaker Bojie Dy also has several family members who occupy positions in the government. His son, Faustino “Inno” Dy V, is currently the Echague mayor while his other son, has served as vice governor of Isabela since 2025. Together with Cong. Marcos, they filed the House Bill No. 6771.

It was previously reported that the Anti-Political Dynasty Bill filed by Marcos and Dy gained the approval of the House Committee on Suffrage and Electoral Reforms. Recently, DILG Secretary Jonvic Remulla revealed his side on the push to end political dynasty in the country.

Two (2) Remullas have acquired positions in the Marcos Jr. Cabinet. While Jonvic Remulla is the DILG Secretary, his brother, Jesus Crispin “Boying” Remulla, was previously appointed as the secretary of the Department of Justice. The latter resigned from being the DOJ Chief to apply for the position of the Ombudsman which he currently holds.
Based on a report on GMA News, DILG Secretary Jonvic Remulla expressed his support to the anti-political dynasty bill being pushed in the Congress. According to the Interior Chief, they are ready to stop if the bill will be passed into a law.
“Kung ano ang ipasa nila, doon ako. Kung sabihin nilang bawal na eh di tigil na kami. Okay na ‘yun. We’ve been serving for ilang years na ba? Bibilangin ko ha. 31 years?” the DILG Secretary said.
Based on the report, Remulla further stressed that they are proud of their achievements in Cavite. According to him, in terms of growth, the province leads.
“Alam mo, ano ‘yan eh, parang comet that hits the Earth. Tapos extinction event. Magkakaroon tayo ng extinction event. So mauubos kami lahat, us included. Kung kasama ‘yan, eh di we’re out. Say goodbye. Okay na ‘yan,” he expressed.
Previously, amid sharing the same position with his brother, Sen. Erwin Tulfo claimed that he is ready to resign if an anti-political dynasty bill will be passed.
