Sen. Risa Hontiveros Speaks on United Opposition for Next Elections
RISA HONTIVEROS – The Senator spoke on the possibility of a “girl power” in the 2028 Elections amid the speculations.
Two (2) years ahead of the 2028 Elections, names of potential candidates crossed the surface. The election talks were even triggered after Vice Pres. Sara Duterte announced that she will run for president in 2028. She admitted that she has already recruited someone to be her running mate but refused to name the person.

Prior to the announcement of Vice Pres. Duterte, several members of the opposition have also met for lunch. Former senator and Mamamayang Liberal Party-list Representative Leila de Lima admitted that she is hoping that former Vice President and now-Naga Mayor Leni Robredo will run for the presidency again in 2028.
De Lima believes that Robredo is still the strongest bet of the opposition for the presidential race in 2028. She hopes that the Filipinos have come to certain realizations amid what is happening in the country now.

Aside from former Vice President and Naga Mayor Leni Robredo, another name that is linked as a potential candidate in the 2028 polls is Sen. Risa Hontiveros who previously bared her condition to run for president or vice president in the next election. According to her, she is willing to do so if it is what the united opposition will decide on.

“I remain open, I remain willing and ‘yung kondisyon ko ay ‘yung tulad nung matagal ko na rin sinasabi—kung piliin ng united opposition,” Hontiveros said.
Amid the speculations and rumors that Sen. Imee Marcos might be the running mate of Vice Pres. Sara Duterte in the 2028 Elections, there are also speculations that former VP and Naga Mayor Leni Robredo might ran alongside Sen. Risa Hontiveros in the next polls. It is now branded as “girl power”.

Recently, Sen. Risa Hontiveros spoke on the possibility of a girl power in 2028. According to News5, the Senator believes that whatever the united opposition will agree on, there is a space for women in it.
“Kung anuman ang mapagkakasunduan ng nagkakaisang mga puwersa para sa 2028, nandoon lagi ang mga babae, kasama.
“Well, everywhere is a woman’s place. Every time is a woman’s time,” the Senator expressed based on the post.
Previously, former Vice President and now Naga Mayor Leni Robredo was asked about her possible presidential bid in 2028.
