Both of them denied that they had political talks.

Former Vice President and Naga Mayor Leni Robredo declined to talk about the election. According to her, once election has already been discussed, the next moves will allegedly be for the election.

“Ang dami ko pang trabahong gagawin at marami tayong lahat trabahong gagawin at gaya sa akin, kauupo ko lang bilang mayor. Hindi pa nga one year. Para pag-usapan ‘yung 2028, parang disservice naman ‘yun sa mga tao,” Robredo said.

Despite Pres. Bongbong Marcos denying any political talk with Naga Mayor Leni Robredo during his visit in her city, the President recently confirmed that his administration are talking to some people. Based on a report on ABS-CBN News, speaking at a fireside chat during the Association of Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN) Editors and Economic Opinion Leaders Forum, he claimed that they have some people in mind and they have talked to some already.

“Well, we have some people we are talking to, in mind, many of them actually, some of them said no,” Marcos Jr. said.

The President was pressed on for clues if he is referring to a legislator, a Cabinet secretary, or a local official, Marcos Jr. just laughed as per the report. According to him, it is tough to bring someone who has not been involved in politics into the presidential level.

“It happens, but it is not that easy especially in the highly political atmosphere that we have here in the Philippines. It’s not that they don’t like the person, they just don’t know who they are and to build that up to a presidential level is quite difficult,” the President added.

Previously, former Vice President and Naga Mayor Leni Robredo was asked about Vice Pres. Sara Duterte announcing her presidential bid in 2028.
