Pedestrian Hit by Allegedly Drunk Rider in Tondo
A male pedestrian crossing the road was hit by a speeding motorcycle along Abad Santos Avenue in Tondo, Manila.
A man crossing the road was hit by a speeding motorcycle along Abad Santos Avenue in Barangay 215, Tondo, Manila late Monday night, February 23. The incident happened at around 11:00 p.m. and was captured on CCTV.
In the video, the pedestrian, who was wearing a white shirt, was seen attempting to cross the street. As he moved forward, a fast-moving motorcycle suddenly struck him. The impact threw the man onto the road.
The rider also lost control of the motorcycle and crashed into two parked motorcycles along the side of the street.
Residents nearby rushed to the scene after hearing the loud crash. One of them said the accident happened just a few meters away from Ospital ng Tondo, which made some people wonder why no immediate medical assistance came from the hospital.
Barangay personnel were the first to respond and check on both the victim and the rider. It reportedly took around 15 minutes before an ambulance arrived.
According to a barangay official, the pedestrian appeared unsure while crossing the road, which may have contributed to the accident. However, witnesses also noticed that the rider seemed unsteady and had a strong smell of alcohol.
The rider was conscious but could barely speak and complain of dizziness, leading to suspicions that he had been drinking before the crash.
“Hindi siya makausap pero conscious siya… nahihilo siya… medyo amoy alak nga, so lasing nga siguro kaya nangyari ‘yung disgrasya,” the official said.

Both the pedestrian and the rider were later brought by ambulance to another hospital for treatment. The condition of the two individuals has not yet been fully disclosed.
Police are continuing their investigation to determine the exact cause of the accident.
