Manila Mayor Isko Moreno To Remain in the Local Gov’t
ISKO MORENO – The Manila Mayor broke his silence amid the rumors that he is allegedly the possible running mate of Vice President Sara Duterte in the 2028 Elections.
Recently, Vice Pres. Sara Duterte revealed that she has already recruited someone to be her running mate in the 2028 Elections. However, the Vice President refused to reveal the identity of the person she wants to be her running mate to protect the person amid the decision-making.
Also, Vice Pres. Sara Duterte denied that she will be a vengeful president. It is no secret to the public that she and Pres. Ferdinand “Bongbong” Marcos Jr. are not in good terms and her camp believes that the administration allegedly has something to do with the impeachment moves against her.
According to Vice Pres. Duterte, there is allegedly no record in her work history that she has revenged towards someone. However, she warned that those who did wrongs to the country will have to be accountable.
Vice Pres. Sara Duterte claimed that the person she recruited to be her running mate in the 2028 Elections will be the one to hold those people who did wrongs to the government accountable so she can focus in her work as president. Amid her recent remarks, speculations on who might be the person that the Vice President is referring to circulated online.
One of the names in the rumors is Manila Mayor Isko Moreno. The local chief executive was one of the presidential candidates in the 2022 Elections. In 2025, he ran for the mayoralty race in Manila and was able to return to the position.
Based on News5, Manila Mayor Isko Moreno denied that he has plans of running for a higher position in the 2028 Elections. His remarks came amid the rumors that he is possibly the person that Vice Pres. Sara Duterte recruited to be her running mate in the next national polls.
“Sa lokal lang po ako. Tatakbo ako bilang mayor,” Moreno said.
Mayor Isko Moreno was one of the mayors who recently attended the launching of the Bagong Pilipinas, Bawat Bayan Makinabang program. It aims to boost the support of the national government towards the local governments. The launching was held at the Malacañang Palace today.
“Pabayaan niyo na ako rito sa Maynila. Steady na lang ako sa gedli,” the Manila Mayor said based on the post.
Aside from Manila Mayor Isko Moreno, another government official who is rumored to be the possible running mate of the Vice President in 2028 is Sen. Bam Aquino. The said rumors undeniably startled the supporters of the opposition.
Amid the confusion of the supporters of the opposition, Sen. Bam Aquino immediately broke his silence on his rumored tandem with Vice Pres. Sara Duterte in 2028.
