Cristy Fermin Acquitted In Cyberlibel Case Filed By Dominic Roque

Entertainment columnist Cristy Fermin felt relieved after the acquittal.

Showbiz columnist Cristy Fermin celebrates after being acquitted of the cyber libel case filed by actor Dominic Roque.

In 2024, actor Dominic Roque took legal action against showbiz columnist Cristy Fermin, filing a cyber libel complaint at the Office of the City Prosecutor of Pasig City. The complaint was due to “malicious statements and innuendos” made by Fermin on her YouTube channel, Showbiz Now Na.

Roque’s camp claimed the remarks were defamatory.

“The malicious and baseless innuendos were quickly picked up by social media netizens, several of whom even uploaded a photo of Dapitan City Mayor Bullet Jalosjos, without his knowledge and consent. There is absolutely no truth to these malicious innuendos,” the statement said.

However, based on the recent development, the court acquitted her in the cyberlibel case filed by the actor. On Wednesday, Fermin shared this news and was celebrating the acquittal.

“Anak, nakuha natin ang hustisya, panalo tayo sa kasong libelo na isinampa ni Dominic Roque. Salamat sa Diyos sa paggabay,” Fermin said.

As much as we all know, Roque was among the celebrities, such as former fiancée Bea Alonzo, singer-actress Sharon Cuneta, and Senator Kiko Pangilinan, in filing separate cases against Cristy Fermin over alleged malicious remarks aired on her online program.

“Maraming salamat lang ang puwede kong ibalik sa matindi mong suporta, tiwala, at pagmamahal. Kasama na kita sa laban sa umpisa pa lang. Kapos ang maliit kong puso sa pagtatawid ng kaligayahan,” she expressed.

Fermin added, “Anak nakakahinga na ako nang maluwag. Tapos na ang lahat ng kaso ko, grabe ang 2024 sa akin. Limang kaso! Sobrang salamat sa tiwala at pagmamahal.  Mula sa pusong salamat.”

Previously, Alonzo withdrew the case against Fermin after the latter publicly apologized. The Kapuso actress accepted the apology and chose to forgive rather than push through with the case.
