2 Police Officers Temporarily Relieves From Post for Allegedly Blocking Motorists in Taft Avenue
Two police officers from the Manila Police District have been temporarily relieved from their posts after allegedly blocking motorists in Manila.
Previously, a viral video showed a mobile patrol vehicle allegedly blocking motorists in the middle of the road even though the traffic light was already green along Taft Avenue in Manila.
Reports said the vehicle had earlier been cut in front of another car. After being honked at by a motorist, the patrol car remained in place and only moved when the traffic light turned red.

The Manila Police District acted right away. The officers involved were ordered by the Ermita Police Station to submit a written explanation. An administrative review has also been started to look into the incident.
“The Philippine National Police (PNP) does not tolerate any violation of laws, policies, or established operational procedures. Should any infraction be established after due investigation, appropriate administrative action shall be taken in accordance with existing rules and regulations,” MPD said.
While the investigation is ongoing, the two patrolmen have been temporarily removed from duty.

According to Ermita Police Station Commander Alfonso Saligumba III, the officers claimed that their patrol vehicle experienced mechanical trouble at the time of the incident. This explanation is now part of the ongoing review.
The Manila Police District reminded the public that it does not tolerate any violation of the law, internal policies, or proper procedures. Officials assured that any personnel found responsible for wrongdoing will face the proper sanctions.
“The PNP remains committed to upholding due process and ensuring that conclusions are based solely on verified facts. Should any violation be established after a thorough investigation, the personnel involved shall be held accountable,” MPD added.

The public is waiting for clear answers about what truly happened on that busy Manila Road.
