Edu Manzano Drops Sharp Remarks on Alleged Tournament Cheating

Edu Manzano Speaks Out After Alleged Cheating Rocks Exclusive Golf Tournament

EDU MANZANO – Television host and actor Edu Manzano did not hold back as he reacted to the alleged cheating incident that recently shook a prestigious golf tournament.

Edu Manzano recently took to social media to air his thoughts on an alleged cheating incident that reportedly occurred during a golf tournament. In a Facebook post on Monday, February 9, Edu made it clear that the issue went beyond a simple game.

According to him, the matter reflects something deeper about character and integrity. “Not a world event. Not big money. Just a club tournament and an honor system. A simple scorecard pero nandaya pa rin. That tells us the problem isn’t pressure. It’s personality. It’s habit.,” Edu wrote.

Edu Manzano further emphasized the broader implications of the incident, especially considering the people allegedly involved.

“These are political families, people who live off public trust. If they can’t be honest in a low-stakes game, what happens when real power and real money are involved?” he added.

Edu also pointed out that golf is known as a self-policing sport, where integrity plays a central role.

“You call penalties on yourself. No referee. Just conscience. So when cheating still happens, the message is clear ….. winning matters more than truth,” he continued.

For Edu, such incidents mirror how corruption begins and persists in society.

“This is how corruption survives, not only through giant scandals but through small dishonest acts people excuse because ‘laro lang.’ But it’s never just a game. It’s practice.

“If they cheat when nothing matters, imagine what they do when everything does,” he said.

Although Edu did not directly mention any names in his post, he shared a report regarding the decision of Alabang Country Club Inc. to revoke the awards given to the winning teams of the recently held Mango Tee tournament.

“After careful review of the investigative report submitted by the Mango Tee Committee and in coordination with the Club’s Golf Committee, the Board of Directors of Alabang Country Club Inc. has decided and unanimously agreed to withdraw the awards conferred during the Mango Tee awards rites on 07 February 2026 to the teams of Mr. Ronin Leviste and partner Mr. Darren Flores; and Mr. Luis Raymynd Villafuerte and partner Mr. Edward Francisco, due to the highly unusual and statistically improbable submitted scores made by these two above-mentioned teams.”

Finally, Alabang Country Club, Inc. ordered the individuals involved to return the trophies awarded to them on February 7.
