Eric Tai aka Eruption 2016 Throwback Included Time He Got Fired From It’s Showtime

Eric Tai had a challenging time in 2016

Showbiz personality Eric Tai, also known as Eruption, joined the 2016 throwback trend, and this included the time when he got fired from Kapamilya noontime show It’s Showtime.

Eric was one of the hosts of the noontime show during its first years on the air. However, 10 years ago, his hosting stint for Showtime ended.

In his entry for the 2016 throwback trend, the first thing that he mentioned was the challenging time in his showbiz career.

Eric Tai said he was told that he was no longer part of the Kapamilya show. He said that 2016 almost broke them. “I got fired from Showtime right after New Years day with no backup plan. No clarity. Just with a mindset that there’s a purpose in all things,” he said.

However, a twist came. He was recruited to play American football for the Philippine national team. Even though they won against Korea, he broke his right hand, underwent surgery, and was out for months. For him, it was a quick lesson in humility.

In the middle of that uncertainty in their lives, they made the most important decision. He and his wife, Rona, were sealed for time and all eternity in the Manila, Philippines Temple.

“Before careers, before comfort, before knowing what was next, we chose God, and we chose each other,” he shared.

Then, they were chosen to be part of the Amazing Race Asia, representing the Philippines. Another challenge for them, individually and as a couple.

Eric also shared that they had two rules during the race. The first one was that there should be no arguing, and they should let anyone express anger or frustration. For the second rule, Eric and his wife agreed not to blame each other.

The showbiz personality also highlighted their faith that helped them a lot. “So even though 2016 started rough, getting fired from Showtime and breaking my hand, God proved He is the ultimate Master Planner,” Eric Tai said.
