Batangas Cong. Leandro Leviste Denies Crying To Mom Sen. Loren Legarda
LEANDRO LEVISTE – The Batangas Congressman confirmed that he requested to meet with Senate President Pro Tempore Ping Lacson over the “Cabral Files”.
Following the reported death of former Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH) Undersecretary Maria Catalina Cabral, Cong. Leviste, the son of Senator Loren Legarda, became even more popular. It was after he claimed that he allegedly has the files of the late former DPWH Usec.

The so-called “Cabral files” is believed to contain the list of the 2025 infrastructure allocations and their proponents. Amid the call for accountability over the supposed multi-billion flood control corruption, many people questioned the authenticity of the said files.
Even the death of former DPWH Usec. Cathy Cabral was controversial. Cabral’s body was reportedly found unresponsive and unconscious below the cliff in Benguet. Previously, it was reported that the computer and files of Cabral were turned over by the DPWH to the Ombudsman. Recently, Batangas 1st District Cong. Leandro Leviste spoke over the alleged “Cabral files”.

Based on a report on ABS-CBN News, Batangas Cong. Leandro Leviste denied crying to his mother, Sen. Loren Legarda. Senate President Pro Tempore Ping Lacson claimed that he cried to his mom following the backlash he earned over his statements on the supposed “Cabral files”.
“”Umiiyak daw” ako sa mom ko, lilinawin ko lang po na hindi ito totoo,” the young Congressman said.

Batangas Cong. Leandro Leviste confirmed requesting to meet with Senate President Pro Tempore Ping Lacson through Sen. Loren Legarda. According to him, even his mother knows that he will listen to Lacson more than her. He also stressed that it was the Senate President Pro Tempore who first revealed that members of the 19th Congress had allocables in the 2025 budget of the DPWH.
“The reason my mom talked to Senator Lacson is that she knows I will listen to him more than her. Because what he is doing exposing corruption is an example that more in government should emulate,” Leviste said.

Based on the report, Cong. Leandro Leviste confirmed that members of the 19th Congress, at least five (5) Cabinet secretaries, and undersecretaries allegedly had allocables based in the supposed “Cabral files”. According to him, he has already exchanged messages with Senate President Pro Tempore Ping Lacson.
“I appreciate that the Senate and House are issuing subpoenas for the “Cabral Files”. This will ensure there will be no questions on the authenticity of the files, and hopefully the public will then know how the DPWH budget was spent,” the Batangas Congressman added.
Previously, Cong. Leandro Leviste claimed that suspended Cavite Cong. Kiko Barzaga and Kamanggagawa Party-list Representative Eli San Fernando also allegedly have copies of the supposed “Cabral files”. Former presidential spokesman Harry Roque reacted to the meeting of Leviste, Barzaga, and San Fernando.
