10-Year-Old Girl Loses Left Hand in Tragic Accident
A 10-year-old girl tragically loses her left hand after a dart bomb exploded in Santa Cruz, Manila.
On January 5, 2026, a CCTV footage captured a young girl roller skating near their home while balancing a window. She was playing with other children, unaware of the danger nearby.
Moments later, a dart bomb that had been placed on the window suddenly exploded. The blast caused the children to scatter in fear, but the girl was hit directly by the explosion.

The force of the blast threw her backward and caused serious injuries to her face and arm. Her left hand suffered severe damage and was rushed to Jose Reyes Memorial Medical Center. Doctors did everything they could, but the injuries were too serious. To save her life and prevent further infection, they had to amputate her entire left hand.
“Nag-balance po siya sa may bintana na may paputok. ‘Yung klase ng paputok nu’n, ‘pag nahawakan mo lang is sasabog. Ngayon paghawak, pagsandal ng anak ko, biglang sumabog po. Tumalsik po ‘yung anak ko, nauntog ‘yung mukha. ‘Yung left hand niya, ‘yun ‘yung pinaka-damaged talaga,” the victim’s father said.
The child survived the accident, but her family struggles with her situation. Her father shared how difficult it is to accept that his daughter will live with this injury for the rest of her life. They worry about her emotional healing, her future, and the possibility of being bullied as she grows up.
Authorities identified a 14-year-old boy as the one who allegedly placed the dart bomb. He was brought to the Manila Reception and Action Center due to his age. Both families met at the barangay days after the incident, where apologies were expressed.
The victim’s parents are now considering legal steps, including filing a claim for damages. While anger and sadness remain, they continue to focus on helping their daughter heal and adjust.
