Oil Price Rollback Set on Tuesday, DOE Says

FUEL PRICE UPDATE – The Department of Energy is expecting an oil price rollback starting Tuesday (January 13, 2026).

Filipino motorists may see lower fuel prices next week as global oil markets continue to show signs of easing. Industry experts and government monitoring suggest a rollback in domestic pump prices, though final adjustments will depend on end-of-week trading and the costs applied by fuel companies.

Based on latest trends, diesel prices could fall by about P0.10 to P0.30 per liter, while gasoline may either remain steady or drop by up to P0.20 per liter.

Meanwhile, the Energy Department estimates slightly larger decreases, with gasoline potentially down by around P0.40 per liter, diesel by P0.50 per liter, and kerosene by roughly P0.25 per liter.

These numbers do not yet include operating costs and other premiums, which may reduce the final reductions seen at the pump.

The easing in oil prices comes amid higher global supply and oversupply concerns. Despite geopolitical tensions in Venezuela, Russia-Ukraine, and the Middle East, global markets have so far absorbed these risks without huge price spikes.

Market watchers also point out that any sudden changes in policy or unexpected geopolitical events could quickly reverse the trend and limit the expected rollback. Nevertheless, the current outlook suggests that sufficient supply and steady demand are likely to keep prices on a slightly downward path in the coming days.

Fuel retailers are expected to announce the official weekly adjustments on Monday, with the new prices taking effect the following day. Last week, gasoline prices dropped slightly, while diesel and kerosene increased.

Consumers are advised to monitor updates as the rollout approaches and take note that the final prices may differ slightly due to company-specific costs and premiums.
