This is what Vice Ganda said about doing his third film with Jun Lana.
Following the success of “Call Me Mother,” superstar Vice Ganda shared that she is ecstatic to do her third film with Director Jun Lana.
“Call Me Mother” is an official entry of the Metro Manila Film Festival (MMFF) 2025 that earned box office and critical success. This is the second collaboration of superstar Vice Ganda and multi-awarded director Jun Lana after “And the Breadwinner Is…” from last year’s film festival.
This is also the same film that gave Vice her first Best Actor award. When asked if she is willing for another collaboration with the director, she expressed a positive response without any hesitation and will full certainty.
She said, “Of course! Sabi nga ni Direk Jun, ‘Wala na, tinanggap ko na nakatali na ako sa’yo!”
The film is directed by Jun Robles Lana and features Nadine Lustre, Lucas Andalio, Esnyr, John Lapus, Klarisse de Guzman, Mika Salamanca, Brent Manalo, River Joseph, and Shuvee Etrata.
In her decades-long career in film, this marks the first time she has achieved critical acclaim. She has also been reading audience feedback and shared that she is overwhelmed by the outpouring of praise for her performance.
The comedian-host has been nominated since his festival debut “Sisterakas” in 2012. Other nominations came from “Girl, Boy, Bakla, Tomboy” the following year and last year’s “And The Breadwinner Is…” for which Vice received a Special Jury Citation.
While making this film, she only did what she was asked to do. It never occurred to her what the critics would like or how to artistically do it. She just did what she was directed to do, and everything that followed after that, from box office to critical success, was out of her control.
“Kasi nakakaproud, bago siyang karanasan sa akin. Mas sanay ako na tinatawanan lang yung ginagawa ko kasi nagpapatawa ako. Hindi ako sanay na may nakikita sila sa ginawa ko, na may nakita sila na hindi ko nakita,” she said about her Best Actor win.
