Davao Cong. Paolo Duterte Back in The Hague to Visit Dad Rodrigo
PAOLO DUTERTE – The Davao Congressman spoke about “thieves” and corruption in the Philippine government and gave a message for Filipinos.
Previously, after her visit to her father, Vice President Sara Duterte extended the message of the former President to the Filipino people. According to former Pres. Rodrigo Duterte, he and his family will not force the Filipinos over what the people wants but he assured that they will be there as long as the people want them.
Former Pres. Duterte is detained under the custody of the International Criminal Court or ICC for almost 10 months now since he was arrested last March 11. The Philippine authorities assisted the International Criminal Police Organization (Interpol) in the arrest of the former President upon his arrival from Hong Kong.
The ICC prosecutor filed three (3) counts of murder as alleged crimes against humanity against Duterte. He previously applied for an interim release but the foreign court junked his plea. His camp filed for an appeal.
However, last November 28, 2025, the ICC rejected the interim release appeal of former Pres. Duterte anew. He was represented by his lawyer, Nicholas Kaufman, at the hearing.
Davao Cong. Paolo Duterte immediately released a statement of their family over the ICC ruling on the interim release appeal of the former President. According to the Duterte family, they accept the foreign court’s ruling “with open hearts”.
Recently, Davao Cong. Paolo Duterte is back in The Hague, Netherlands to visit former Pres. Rodrigo Duterte. Based on a post on social media, during an after-visit interview, the Davao Congressman was asked about the claims that the detractors of their family are preparing to attack them this year. The Davao Congressman spoke about “thieves” and corruption.
“Naging kapitan rin ako. Malalaman mo ang magnanakaw sa itsura pa lang… Kapag nakapagsimula ka nang magnakaw, hindi na ‘yan matitigil. Ayaw pa nilang matanggal,” the younger Duterte said.
Cong. Paolo Duterte claimed that they will just be extra cautious over the possibility that they will be attacked by their detractors this year. Based on the post, the lawmaker also claimed that the impeachment issue keeps on being recycled.
“Ang problema ayaw niyo ng tamang proseso. Demokrasya ang ating pinag-uusapan. Hindi sila makahintay ng halalan. Pag-uusapan ang impeachment, impeachment, pabalik-balik na lang, recycled,” he said based on the post.
Davao Cong. Paolo Duterte further expressed that trillions were allegedly stolen already and they are adding trillions more. His statement came after the P6.79 trillion national budget was approved by Pres. Ferdinand Marcos Jr.
“Trilyon ang ninakaw, ngayon dinagdagdagan ng trilyon na nanakawin. So kayong mga Pilipino, depende na sa inyo kung okay lang sa inyo na nakawan kayo… Kung gusto niyong lagi kayong ninanakawan, walang problema sa amin,” the Davao Congressman said.
