In the 2026 national budget signed and approved by President Bongbong Marcos, these government agencies received the biggest allocations.
President Bongbong Marcos signed the proposed PHP 6.79 trillion budget on Monday, but vetoed PHP 92.5 billion in unprogrammed appropriations.

As required by the Constitution, the Department of Education (DepEd) received the largest budget at PHP 1.345 trillion. This will fund 32,916 teaching and 32,268 non-teaching positions in public schools, as well as the construction of 24,964 classrooms nationwide.
The Department of Health (DOH) also received its highest budget ever at PHP 448.125 billion. This budget will fund the Universal Health Care Fund for Zero Balance Billing, interventions for communicable and non-communicable diseases, and disease surveillance, among others.
PHP 297.102 billion was given to the agriculture sector to secure food security, modernize supply systems, and support farmers and fisherfolk. Despite the issues, the Department of Public Works and Highways came in second in the list with the biggest allocations at PHP 530.9 billion.

Meanwhile, in a previous article, Social Watch Philippines (SWP) encouraged President Marcos to veto several “highly questionable items” in the 2026 budget. According to the group, this questionable item would only be prone to misuse or lack sufficient transparency. If vetoed, potential abuse would be prevented.
Despite the warning, the dubious programmed funds remained in the budget. The budget watchdog criticized the president for approving the budget despite these questionable allocations.
