Bongbong Marcos Warns Public: Avoid Firecrackers and Choose Safer New Year Noise
BONGBONG MARCOS – President Ferdinand “Bongbong” Marcos Jr. is urging Filipinos to rethink a long-standing New Year tradition in the interest of safety and peace.
President Ferdinand “Bongbong” Marcos Jr. has once again appealed to the public to steer clear of firecrackers when welcoming the New Year, highlighting the need to prioritize safety and reduce the risk of accidents during the holiday festivities.
In a recent video posted on his official Facebook page, the President called on Filipinos to remain vigilant and to avoid setting off firecrackers as the nation prepares to welcome another year. He explained that staying away from firecrackers is a practical and effective way to prevent injuries and protect families throughout the celebrations.

“Mag-ingat sa mga paputok. Iwasan na natin ’yan. Doon tayo sa mga torotot at iba pang maingay na mga laruan para kompleto at masaya ang pagsalubong natin sa darating na Bagong Taon,” said President Bongbong.
The Chief Executive underscored that welcoming the New Year does not require the use of hazardous items that could endanger lives. Instead, he encouraged the public to opt for safer choices such as party horns, noise-producing toys, and other festive alternatives that can still create a joyful and lively atmosphere without posing risks.
He also stressed that greater importance should be placed on having a safe and calm family celebration, particularly at a time when Filipinos traditionally come together with their loved ones. For the President, safeguarding families and communities is far more important than maintaining unsafe practices.
President Marcos further noted that firecracker-related accidents continue to be reported each year, often leading to injuries, emotional distress, and even property damage. According to him, many of these incidents are preventable if people follow safety reminders and choose safer ways to celebrate.

In line with this, he repeated his call for Filipinos to gradually move away from the long-standing tradition of using firecrackers every New Year’s Eve. He believes that letting go of this practice is an important step toward building a culture of safety and responsibility, especially for children who are frequently exposed to such dangers.
The President’s message echoes the yearly appeals of health authorities, law enforcement agencies, and local government units to reduce firecracker-related incidents during the holiday season. By opting for torotot and other noise-making toys, families can still enjoy a festive and meaningful celebration while ensuring a safe and injury-free start to the New Year.
