Will Angelica Panganiban finally snag the Best Actress award?
ABS-CBN actress Angelica Panganiban leads the MMFF 2025 entry “Unmarry,” and here’s what she said about this possibility.
The Metro Manila Film Festival (MMFF) is celebrating its 51st edition this 2025, and to mark this, there are eight official entries for the moviegoers. With various themes and stories, viewers for this Christmas are surely going to have an emotional rollercoaster ride.
One of the official entries for MMFF 2025 is Unmarry, starring Angelica Panganiban and Zanjoe Marudo. This is the comeback film of the actress after stepping out of the limelight to focus on her married and motherhood life.
With her promising comeback film, will she finally be able to snag the Best Actress award this year?
Panganiban was asked about this, and according to her, this award is accordingly difficult to win. Despite being among the best actresses in the entertainment industry, she still hasn’t won a trophy at the aforementioned film festival.
However, there’s a potential. With her talent, this possibility comes with no doubt. She expressed, “Hindi ko masagot. Marami na rin akong pelikula na nagawa for MMFF. Sabi ko nga, ‘Always a nominee but never a winner.’ Parang may ganoon na akong pakiramdam.“
As for winning, she stated that she will consider this a reward for the hard work she put into her newest film. During filming, she also made some sacrifices, and among them is traveling a long distance just to shoot. It might also be her drive to continue doing her craft, despite her changed priorities.
“Kung ibibigay, masaya. Nag-comeback ka at pinaghirapan mo. Tapos luluwas ka ng Olongapo to Manila. Kung ibibigay — siguro — gaganahan ka uli,” she expressed. If it won’t be given to her, just knowing that she did a good movie is already enough for her.
The last MMFF appearance of Panganiban was the 2012 film “One More Try,” which starred Angel Locsin, Zanjoe Marudo, and Dingdong Dantes.
