Bicam Approves P889.2 Million Fund for Office of Vice Pres. Sara Duterte amid the Budget Process
SARA DUTERTE – The bicameral conference committee approved the P889.2 million budget for the Office of the Vice President.
The bicameral conference committee is currently tackling the national budget for 2026. Senate Finance Committee chairman Sherwin Gatchalian confirmed that they are not on schedule after the issue with regards to the request of the Department of Public Works and Highways.

DPWH Secretary Vince Dizon asked the bicam to restore P45 billion of the budget cut from the agency’s initial proposal. According to the Public Works Chief, around 10,000 projects may not be pushed through if the request won’t be granted.
Dizon cited the changes in the CMPD. Several senators were disappointed over the request of the agency after they reduced their budget following the sweeping review.

Recently, the bicam tackled the proposed budget for the office of Vice Pres. Sara Duterte. Based on a report on GMA News, the amount proposed for the OVP under the National Expenditure Program (NEP) was P889.2 million.
However, following a non-appearance of Vice Pres. Sara Duterte during the budget deliberation of her office’s proposed fund at the House of Representatives, the chamber reduced the OVP budget to P733 million.

With regards to the upper chamber, the Senate swiftly approved the P889.2 million budget for the office of Vice Pres. Sara Duterte. It took less than five (5) minutes. The Vice President appeared at the chamber in all budget deliberations.
Recently, the bicam decided on the budget for the Office of the Vice President in 2026. Based on the report, the committee approved the P889.2 million budget for the office of Vice Pres. Sara Duterte.
Previously, Vice Pres. Duterte refused to attend the House budget plenary deliberations after he urged the chamber to also demand the attendance of Pres. Bongbong Marcos.
