Vice Pres. Sara Duterte Extends Message of Former Pres. Rodrigo Duterte for Filipinos
RODRIGO DUTERTE – Vice President Sara Duterte extended the message of her father for the Filipino people amid his detention under the International Criminal Court (ICC).
The ICC rejected the interim release appeal of former Pres. Duterte. The ruling came with a unanimous decision last November 28 during a hearing set by the foreign court. The former President was represented by his lawyer, Nicholas Kaufman.
Former Pres. Duterte signed a waiver. During the hearing, all children of the former Chief Executive were in the Philippines and only his grandson, Davao Congressman Omar Duterte, was in The Hague, Netherlands. He was saddened by the decision of the foreign court.
Davao Cong. Omar Duterte immediately visited former Pres. Rodrigo Duterte after the ICC rejected his interim release plea. According to him, he did not mention about the ICC ruling to his grandfather.
Vice Pres. Sara Duterte flew to The Hague, Netherlands after the ICC hearing on the interim release plea of former Pres. Rodrigo Duterte. After her first visit, she also claimed that she did not mention about the decision of the foreign court to her father.
Recently, Vice Pres. Sara Duterte joined a gathering with the Duterte supporters in The Hague, Netherlands. Several Filipinos from other states and countries were also there to show their support o the former Chief Executive.
At the gathering, Vice Pres. Duterte claimed that former Pres. Rodrigo Duterte has a message for their family’s supporters. Based on a video posted by News5 on social media, the former President wants to assure Filipinos of their family’s continued service while they are wanted.
“Nandidito kami as long as gusto pa kami ng tao. Hindi kami mamimilit kung ano ‘yung gusto ng taong-bayan,” the younger Duterte said referring to her father’s message for the people based on the post.
Previously, it was confirmed by thee camp of former Pres. Rodrigo Duterte that they might request the ICC for his interim release again. According to his lawyer, Nicholas Kaufman, they just await the medical reports of the former Chief Executive.
Recently, Duterte’s lawyer confirmed receiving the ICC medical report of the former President.
