Noli de Castro underwent surgery
Public Information Agency director-general Katherine “Kat” de Castro shared the recent health update of her father, former Vice President and TV Patrol anchor Noli de Castro.
Noli, also known as “Kabayan,” is one of the most respected broadcast journalists in the Philippines. After serving as Vice President from 2004 to 2011, he returned to television. For many years, he has been one of the anchors of the Kapamilya primetime news program TV Patrol, aside from his other news and public affairs programs.
Just recently, netizens were wondering what happened to the veteran broadcaster. It was because Kat shared a post requesting the public to pray for her father. Kapamilya fan pages also shared the same posts.
Based on the article in the Inquirer on Sunday, Kat de Castro shared an update. She thanked everyone who prayed for Noli de Castro. “Thank you to everyone who prayed, messaged and called. [red heart emoji] Dad’s okay [praying hands emoji],” she wrote in her Facebook post.
Kat did not elaborate on what happened to her father. However, in one of her replies to commenters on her post, she shared that her father had undergone surgery.
Meanwhile, back in 2021, Kat debunked claims on social media claiming that her father slipped, became comatose and had eventually died. It was also claimed that this supposed report was shared by former broadcaster Ted Failon, a former anchor of TV Patrol. This rumor circulated after Noli de Castro announced his senate candidacy in the 2022 elections. However, the veteran broadcaster did not push through with his plan to return to politics.
In a congressional hearing last April, the veteran broadcaster said that he is already used to death hoaxes and fake news about him, but his family has been affected by these.
