ICI Formally Recommends Filing of Cases vs. Bong Revilla, Other Officials Tagged in Flood Control Mess

BONG REVILLA – The Independent Commission for Infrastructure (ICI) recommended the filing of flood control charges against the former Senator.

Not only some senators but as well as some former senators were tagged in the flood control mess in the Philippines. Their names were mentioned by former officials of the Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH) who appeared before the Senate and the House of Representatives’ flood control investigation.

Soon after, many of those who appeared during the Senate and House flood control probe were also invited by the Independent Commission for Infrastructure. Also known as the ICI, the commission was created upon the order of President Ferdinand Marcos Jr. for the flood control investigation.

One of the former government officials tagged by former DPWH Bulacan District Engineer Henry Alcantara into the flood control mess was former Sen. Bong Revilla. He claimed that the former lawmaker allegedly received payoffs from their previous budget insertions.

Following the allegations of Alcantara, photos of former Sen. Revilla visiting the flood control projects in Bulacan in 2023 crossed the surface. Photos of the former Senator with controversial contractors Curlee and Sarah Discaya also circulated on social media.

Former Sen. Bong Revilla denied his alleged involvement in the supposed flood control project anomalies. He claimed that he allegedly has nothing to do with the flood control mess.

“I deny. Wala po akong kinalaman diyan. I have nothing to do with any of that,” the former Senator said.

Recently, amid the ongoing flood control investigation, the ICI formally recommended the filing of flood control charges against former Sen. Bong Revilla. Based on a report on Inquirer, the commission claimed that cases of possible direct and indirect bribery, plunder, corruption, and administrative sanctions may be filed against the former Senator and several others.

According to ICI chairman Andres Reyes Jr., here are the individuals that the commission mentioned in its recent endorsement:

Based on the report, Reyes made the announcement about the ICI recommendation for the filing of flood control charges against former Sen. Bong Revilla and several others after he announced the resignation of ICI member Rogelio Singson.
