Teachers and Students Were Sent Home After Hand Grenade Found Inside School in Camarines Sur
A hand grenade was found inside of Antipolo Elementary School in Minalabac, Camarines Sur, causing fear and panic among teachers and students.
On Tuesday, December 2, 2025, teachers and students of Antipolo Elementary School were sent home after an explosive device was discovered inside the campus. The incident left many parents and school staff anxious.
The explosive, identified as a fragmentation hand grenade, was found by a group of Grade 5 boys who were practicing for an upcoming municipal sports meet. While preparing for their activity, they noticed the dangerous object and immediately informed school authorities.
The quick action of the school authorities helped prevent what could have been a far more serious incident.
Local police responded right away. The PNP K9 Team arrived at the school, securing the area and making sure no other harmful items were present. The team moved carefully around the campus, checking corners and open spaces to ensure the safety of everyone. Officers were able to recover the grenade, which thankfully did not explode.
With the immediate danger controlled, authorities prioritized keeping students and teachers safe by sending them home early. Many parents rushed to pick up their children, grateful that no one was hurt.
The explosive is now in the custody of the PNP Camarines Sur. Investigators are working to determine who brought the grenade into the campus and how it ended up in an area accessible to students. They are also checking if the incident is related to any ongoing local concerns.
School officials and police are reminding the community to stay alert and report anything unusual, especially within school grounds.
Despite the fear, the coordinated response from students, teachers, and police ensured that everyone remained safe.
