Female Call Center Agent Dies After Trying to Avoid Rock Along the Road
A female call center agent who tried to avoid a rock along Barangay San Jose, Rodriguez, Rizal died after being hit by a van.
A 30-year-old call center agent lost her life in a heartbreaking road accident along Payatas Road–Mayon Avenue. She was riding her motorcycle on her way to work in Pasig City when the accident happened.
According to the initial investigation of Rodriguez Police, the victim tried to avoid a rock on the road. The quick attempt to avoid the obstacle caused her to lose balance and slide toward the opposite lane.
“Sa kanyang pag-iwas, na-out of balance, tapos nag-slide, tapos sa kanyang pag-slide, tumama siya roon sa paparating na sasakyan sa kabilang linya,” Rodriguez Municipal Police Station Investigator On-Case Mst. Sgt. Adrian Deo said.
As she slipped across the road, she collided with an oncoming van. The impact send her beneath the vehicle. She was rushed to the nearest hospital, but doctors could no longer save her. She was declared dead on arrival.
Police believe the rock she avoided may have fallen from passing trucks or may have been used as a wedge by vehicles that had earlier gotten stuck. Authorities reminded motorists to be responsible and mindful when leaving objects on the road, as even small items can lead to major accidents.
The 48-year-old van driver, who was on his way to buy rice in Rodriguez with his father-in-law, said the incident happened in an instant. He explained that the motorcycle suddenly went under his vehicle, leaving him shocked and unsure of how to react.
The driver expressed his sorrow and hoped for forgiveness, emphasizing that he never intended for such an accident to occur.
“Bigla na lang pong pumasok sa ilalim ng sasakyan. Bigla pong umangat ‘yung sasakyan ko siyempre dire-diretso ako, medyo umandar pa nang kaunti. Na-shock po ako, hindi po namin alam ng biyenan ko ‘yung gagawin namin. Sana mapatawad po ako kasi aksidente naman po ‘yun, hindi ko sinasadya,” the driver said.

Police noted that the area is accident-prone because of its uphill and curved layout. The van driver is now under police custody and faces charges of reckless imprudence resulting in homicide and damage to property.
