Arjo Atayde Insists Innocence In Anomalous Flood Control Projects

This is what Arjo Atayde said about his alleged involvement in corruption.

Quezon City First District Representative Arjo Atayde was being tagged in the flood control corruption, and here’s what he said.

On Tuesday, November 25, Quezon City First District Representative Arjo Atayde faced the members of the Independent Commission for Infrastructure (ICI). He insists on facing the investigation and expressed that he has no plans to hide or flee to other countries to escape the probe into the flood control corruption.

Atayde was among the names the Discaya couple tagged in the massive flood control corruption.

In facing the ICI, he asked for an executive session, which means it will not be aired. He will just have a private meeting or discussion with the ICI members to discuss the matter he is involved with.

Before the ICI, he testified under oath in connection with its inquiry into the anomalous flood control projects of the government and denied what he was accused of. He voluntarily appeared, and this is the proper forum he was talking about to address the issue.

“I’m ready to answer, and I’ll lay the cards on the table, just facts. I don’t want to invalidate the feelings of the people towards the gravity of the situation if I deny it. So I gathered all the evidence…to prove my innocence,” Atayde said, and added that all the accusations are just pure “hearsay.”

He expressed, “It’s all hearsay because until now, as I said, maybe it would be better to give me the evidence first  before pointing fingers at me. They haven’t even given out anything against me and my father.”

Meanwhile, the legislator insisted there is no proof linking him or his father, Arturo Atayde, to the alleged irregular projects. He said he submitted an affidavit to the ICI but would not discuss what was covered in the closed-door hearing. He added that he is ready to return if the commission calls him again.

He assured his cooperation and would be willing to come back if needed in the investigation.
