Luxury Car w/ Red Plate Sparks Questions from Netizens

Netizens Questioned Luxury Car w/ Red Plate Driving Along Public Road

A luxury vehicle with a red license plate caught the attention of many people online after it was spotted driving along a public road.

In the Philippines, red plates are issued to government-owned vehicles, which led netizens to wonder if the high-end car really belonged to a government office.

Recently, the Facebook page “VISOR” shared a photo of a luxury car with a red license plate driving on a public road. The post quickly went viral on social media and elicited comments from the online community.

The uploader questioned if it was true that such expensive cars were being used as government units. The vehicle in question was a Lexus ES 300h, a model that carries a high market price.

Based on its official pricing in the Philippines, the standard variant costs around 3.5 million pesos. The Luxury trim is priced at about 3.8 million pesos, while the Premier model reaches about P4.2 million, making it one of the more expensive sedans available in the local market.

Some netizens joked that public officials deserve only the best, while others reacted with humor and sarcasm, thanking taxpayers for making such purchases possible.

A few netizens emphasized the cost and expressed interest in seeing the official documents that justified the acquisition of the vehicle, such as the purchase request and technical specifications.

The post sparks discussion about the use of government funds and the types of vehicles used by public offices. Many questioned whether a luxury model is appropriate for government use, while others pointed out that government officials may be entitled to vehicles depending on their position and agency guidelines.
