Pres. Bongbong Marcos Gives “Report” on Flood Control Issue in PH

BONGBONG MARCOS – The President called on the accused in the flood control mess with arrest warrants to voluntarily surrender.

The flood control investigation led by the Independent Commission for Infrastructure or ICI continues. The commission was created upon the order of Marcos Jr. amid the supposed multi-billion corruption in the government through the flood control projects.

Previously, Pres. Bongbong Marcos reported to the Filipinos that their patience towards the flood control investigation have bore results as arrest warrants were issued against some individuals linked to the flood control mess. According to him, the next step would be the serving of the arrest warrants.

Marcos Jr. vowed that he will finish the flood control investigation as he was the one who initiated it. He thanked the Filipino people for their patience. Zaldy Co is one of those who are now faced with an arrest warrant over the flood control mess.

Here are the individuals who were issued an arrest warrant against:

  • Elizalde “Zaldy” Co, former House of Representatives member
  • Gerald Pacanan, DPWH Regional Director
  • Gene Ryan Altea, DPWH Assistant Regional Director
  • Ruben D.S. Santos, DPWH Assistant Regional Director
  • Dominic Serrano, DPWH Chief, Construction Division; Bids and Awards Committee (BAC) Chairperson
  • Juliet Calvo, DPWH Chief, Maintenance Division 
  • Dennis Abagon, DPWH OIC-Chief, Quality Assurance and Hydrology Division; Regular Member, BAC
  • Montrexis Tamayo, DPWH OIC-Chief, Planning and Design Division
  • Lerma Cayco, DPWH Accountant IV
  • Felisardo Casuno, DPWH Project Engineer 3
  • Timojen Sacar, DPWH Material Engineer
  • Aderman Alcazar, President and Chairman of the Board of Directors, Sunwest Construction

Recently, Pres. Bongbong Marcos gave another update on the flood control issue. Based on a video posted on his social media account, the President reported that seven (7) of those who have an existing arrest warrant are now under the custody of the authorities.

According to Marcos Jr., one (1) of the 7 individuals who are now under the custody of the authorities was arrested by the National Bureau of Investigation (NBI) while the 6 others voluntarily surrendered. He also reported that two (2) more individuals with pending arrest warrants confirmed the intent to surrender to the authorities.

“Paalala po: mananagot ang sinumang nagtatago o tumutulong magtago sa kanila. Sa mga nagtatangkang tumulong sa kanilang pagtatago, tandaan ninyo: mananagot din kayo sa batas dahil sa pagtatago ng isang fugitive from justice,” the President said.

Pres. Bongbong Marcos assured that there will be no special treatment. Based on the post, 7 more individuals including Zaldy Co remain at large. He advised the other individuals with arrest warrants to voluntarily surrender to the authorities.

“Wala pong espesyal na pagtrato. Mananatili sila sa kustodiya ng NBI habang hinihintay ang utos ng korte… Sa lahat ng natitirang akusado, ang aking payo: sumuko na kayo. Huwag na ninyong hintaying habulin pa kayo. Mas magiging maayos ang inyong sitwasyon kung haharapin ninyo ang kaso,” he said.

Previously, Marcos Jr. said that his cousin, former Speaker Martin Romualdez, and Zaldy Co may face flood control charges. According to him, the investigation will go where the evidence leads.
