Pres. Bongbong Marcos Gives Eulogy for Former Senate Pres. Juan Ponce Enrile
BONGBONG MARCOS – The President claimed that he wants to live to be 100 years old like former Senate Pres. Juan Ponce Enrile.
Last November 13, former Senate Pres. Juan Ponce Enrile died and his death was confirmed by his daughter, Katrina. The reported age of the former Senate Chief at the time of his death was 101 years old.

Enrile had decades of stint in the public service. It was in 2013 when he delivered his last speech as the chief of the Senate. The last bill he authored was Senate Bill No. 2993 or “An Act Declaring the Department of Education to Integrate the Historical and Analytical Account of the Philippine’s Rescue of Jewish Refugees in the 1930’s as Part of the Coverage of Philippine History Subject Taught to Grade 5 and 6 Students in All National and Regional Schools in the Country and for Other Purposes”. He authored it in October 2015.
His last election ran was in 2019 when he vied for a seat in the Senate but failed to enter the Magic 12. He ranked 22nd in the 2019 Midterm Elections.

The last post that former Senate Pres. Juan Ponce Enrile held as being the chief presidential legal counsel of Pres. Bongbong Marcos. He held the position until his passing last November 13. He died at the comfort of his home and surrounded by his family.

According to Enrile’s family, it was really the wish of their patriarch to return home and have his final moments with the presence of his family. Prior to it, he had been in the intensive care unit (ICU). He died of pneumonia.
A eulogy was held for former Senate Pres. Juan Ponce Enrile in the Senate as well as in Malacañang Palace. Based on a report on Inquirer, Pres. Bongbong Marcos gave an emotional speech during the necrological service for the former chief presidential legal counsel.

Pres. Bongbong Marcos expressed admiration on how sharp former Senate Pres. Juan Ponce Enrile was at 100 years old. According to the Chief Executive, he even asked the former Senator about his “secret” as he also wants to live to be 100 years old with such sharpness.
“Tito, ano bang sikreto? [Uncle, what’s the secret?] I want to be like you also when I’m—and first, I want to live to be 100 years old. And I want to be like you when I’m 100 years old,” the President said referring to his statement to Enrile.
Based on the report, Pres. Bongbong Marcos then revealed that former Senate Pres. Juan Ponce Enrile expressed his belief that he is older than 100. According to him, his records got lost during the war.
“And then sabi niya, ‘Alam mo anak, I’m not sure that I’m 100 years old. I think I’m older.’ Sabi ko, ‘Bakit?’ ‘Nawala ‘yung records ko sa giyera’,” Marcos Jr. shared.
