A married couple managed to save P550,000 in their coin bank over a period of two years, setting aside money earned from their small sari-sari store.
Recently, the Facebook page “PESO SENSE” shared the story of a woman who, together with her husband, was able to save P550,000 in just two years. The post quickly went viral and received many reactions from netizens.
According to the wife, she and her husband started their saving journey two years ago. Instead of keeping their extra earnings in their pockets or spending small everyday wants, they decided to place every coin and bill they could spare into their piggy bank.
Their income came from managing their small sari-sari store, which they ran through hard work, long hours, and sacrifice. Every peso saved represented a day of effort, and the couple continued this routine patiently until the coin bank was finally opened recently.
Running a sari-sari store was not always easy. There were days when earnings were small, and expenses were high. The wife shared that they experienced sleepless nights, exhaustion, and moments when the income did not seem enough.
Despite all these challenges, they remained thankful for being able to push through and provide for their daily needs.
“Hindi madali ang magpatakbo ng sari-sari store. Araw-araw may pagod, may puyat, at may mga panahong hindi sapat ang kita. Pero sa kabila nito, labis kaming nagpapasalamat sa Panginoon, dahil kahit maraming gastusin, nakakaraos pa rin kami,” she wrote.
Before managing their store, the couple had tried different jobs, including working overseas and being employed locally. However, they found fulfillment in running their own business, as it gave them control of their time and allowed them to work at their own pace.
