Bongbong Marcos Vows Every OFW Is Treated as Hero: “I am proud of all the achievements that you made”

Pres. Bongbong Marcos Gives Speech at 2025 Bagong Bayani Awards

BONGBONG MARCOS – The President is proud of the achievements of the overseas Filipino workers (OFWs) and he vowed that they will be treated as heroes as they are.

Many Filipinos are working abroad to provide a comfortable life for their families in the Philippines. Truth be told that the huge compensation in other countries have pulled many Filipinos who supposedly do not want to be away from their families but they cannot afford to not do anything to give them a better life. Recently, the 2025 Bagong Bayani Awards was held in Malacañang Palace in honor of the OFWs.

Both Pres. Bongbong Marcos and First Lady Liza Marcos were present and he even joked that she will be the new ambassador for migrant workers. In his speech for the 2025 Bagong Bayani Awards, the President claimed that the First Lady usually flies abroad to assist the Overseas Workers Welfare Administration or OWWA in their activities.

Marcos Jr. joked that his wife is part of the “Cabinet shakeup”. Recently, two (2) members of his Cabinet, former Executive Secretary Lucas Bersamin and former Budget Sec. Amenah Pangandaman, resigned from their positions after their names were mentioned when Zaldy Co accused the President of alleged corruption.

At the 2025 Bagong Bayani Awards, Pres. Bongbong Marcos recognized the hardwork of the migrant workers. According to him, the OFWs are the most beautiful picture of the hardwork and excellent of the Filipino people.

“We still see the immense value that migrant workers have brought to their families and to our country. I am proud of all the achievements that you have made,” Marcos Jr. said.

At the event, several new awards were included this year. Based on a report on GMA News, the Heroic Act Award, the Successful Reintegration Award, and the Susan ‘Toots’ V. Ople Award are the new set of recognition. Here are the other awards given at the event:

  • Outstanding Employee Award
  • Community and Social Service Award
  • Culture and the Arts Award
  • Capt. Gregorio S. Oca Achievement Award
  • Blas F. Ople Award Para sa Natatanging Bagong Bayani

Based on the report, Pres. Bongbong Marcos vowed that the OFWs will be treated as heroes as they are. According to him, they can hope that the Philippine government is there for them.

”Kaya bilang suporta, asahan ninyo na nandito lang ang inyong pamahalaan… Through the Department of Migrant Workers, we shall continue to elevate protection, streamline services, and ensure that every OFW is treated as the hero that they are,” the President said.

Recently, amid the corruption issues in the Philippine government, the Statement of Assets, Liabilities, and Net Worth or SALN of Pres. Bongbong Marcos was released to the public.
