Motorcycle Rider Receive Ticket for Illegal Parking Beside Establishment Where He Works
A motorcycle rider received a ticket for illegal parking after being caught parked beside the establishment where he works.
Recently, Gabriel Go, a Facebook content creator, shared the story of the rider being ticketed for illegal parking. The post quickly went viral and drew various reactions from netizens.
According to the rider, parking beside the building had been a common practice for about ten years, and no one had ever stopped them before. He explained that previous clearing operations had allowed the space to be used, so he was surprised that it became a problem only now.

The rider also hoped that a warning could have been given first before issuing a violation ticket.
However, MMDA Special Operation Group-Strike Force Head Gabriel Go responded that having a driver’s license comes with responsibility and knowledge of road rules. He reminded the rider that drivers undergo seminars, training, and exams, which include learning that sidewalks are never meant for parking.
Go explained that sidewalks are designated for pedestrian use and must remain clear at all times.

Authorities also clarified that many sidewalks in major areas, similar to those along C3 and EDSA, have been widened to about 2.5 to 3 meters to provide a safer walkway for the public. With this, even if the space looks wide enough for parking, it still does not change the rule that sidewalks are strictly for people on foot and not for vehicles.
