Iloilo Residents Claim They Received Only P1,000 Instead of P10,000 DSWD Cash Aid

Iloilo Residents Complain After Losing Most of Their Aid, Officials Deny Involvement

Some Iloilo residents complained that they received only P1,000 in aid instead of the P10,000 from the DSWD.

Residents of Barangay Buntatala in Jaro, Iloilo City raised serious concerns after claiming that a large part of their financial assistance from the Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD) was taken from them.

According to a resident who asked to be called Mae, they signed up for P10,000 but were left with only P1,000 after barangay officials allegedly took P9,000. She said no explanation was given about where the money went.

Hon. Gina Elauria, the barangay captain of Taytay Zone 2 in Jaro, denied any involvement in reducing the aid received by their residents. Still, some beneficiaries told K5 News that they received the full P10,000, while others messaged the station saying they received only P1,000.

In Sta. Filomena, Arevalo, Barangay Captain Fred Avanceña said he would investigate complaints from beneficiaries who also claimed that their AICS assistance was reduced. He said he was unaware that some residents were allegedly left with only P1,000 out of the P10,000 they were supposed to receive.

He emphasized that he never gave instructions to collect P9,000 from anyone and believed the payout went smoothly until he heard the reports on the radio.

Another resident, who asked to be called Tan, shared his own experience. He received P10,000 from the DSWD on November 7 and immediately went home to help with funeral expenses for his child.

But soon after arriving, someone came to their home in Sto. Niño Norte and demanded P9,000. Hours later, the person returned and gave back P1,000, leaving Tan with only P2,000 in total. He added that even before receiving the aid, someone told them while they were lining up that only P1,000 would remain because P9,000 needed to be returned.
