The agency emphasized that the ongoing investigation aims not only to restore the deducted amount but also to make sure those involved in the scheme are held responsible.

According to spokesperson Therese Legaste, the department is committed to finding out what truly happened and ensuring that the rightful amount reaches every beneficiary. She shared that DSWD Secretary Rex Gatchalian has already ordered a thorough and urgent investigation into the issue so that proper action can be taken as soon as possible. 

DSWD-6 and the Iloilo City Government are also scheduled to meet and discuss the next steps to address the situation and prevent similar incidents in the future. The department is encouraging all affected individuals to file complaints, whether by visiting their office, sending a message to their official Facebook page, or communicating through email. 

As of this writing, four individuals have already submitted formal complaints to DSWD-6. These reports are part of the growing concerns raised by beneficiaries of the Assistance to Individuals in Crisis Situation (AICS) program, who claim that their aid was reduced without their consent.

The department also received several inquiries and additional reports through their Public Assistance Complaint Desk, while one complaint was filed via the 8888 Presidential Complaint Center. 

DSWD-6 assures complainants that their identities will remain confidential to encourage more victims to speak up without fear. The agency continues to consolidate all the reports to form a clearer picture of the situation and to determine the appropriate penalties for those who may have taken advantage of the aid distribution process.
