Pres. Bongbong Marcos Speaks on Zaldy Co’s Case amid Flood Control Mess in PH
BONGBONG MARCOS – The President claimed that the government will move to cancel Zaldy Co’s passport after the filing of flood control case.
The Independent Commission for Infrastructure or ICI suggested the filing of charges against senators Jinggoy Estrada and Joel Villanueva as well as Zaldy Co over the alleged “kickback scheme”. The commission leads the investigation of the supposed multi-billion flood control corruption in the Philippines.

The ICI is led by former Supreme Court Justice Andres Reyes. It has already conducted several flood control hearings the invited some contractors and government officials. Contractors Curlee and Sara Discaya, former House Speaker Martin Romualdez, and Senator Chiz Escudero are among those who were invited by the commission to attend the investigation.
President cousin and Leyte Cong. Martin Romualdez appeared before the ICI and claimed that he will extend any help that could speed up the resolution of the issue. The former House Speaker denied the flood control accusations against him.

Pres. Bongbong Marcos previously claimed that neither Romualdez nor Zaldy Co will be spared from the flood control probe. Recently, the Chief Executive spoke about the case of the resigned Ako Bicol Partylist Representative.

Co was already outside the Philippines when the flood control accusations against him broke out. House Speaker Bojie Dy revoked his Travel Clearance and ordered him to return to the country but he did not heed the call.
Instead, Zaldy Co resigned from being the representative of Ako Bicol Partylist. There are calls on the government to move for the cancellation of the passport of Co and bring him back to the country.
Recently, Pres. Bongbong Marcos explained that the move to cancel the passport of Zaldy Co will follow the filing of charges against him. Based on a report on ABS-CBN News, the President said that the request for the cancellation of passport cannot be made because charges have yet to be filed against the former House member.
“I think that is best directed at lawyers because that is a legal answer. The legal answer is because hindi pa nasampahan ng kaso, therefore the request for cancellation of passport cannot yet be made,” the President said.

Meanwhile, Pres. Bongbong Marcos assured that when a case has already been filed against Zaldy Co, they will “immediately cancel his passport”. Based on the report, the President stressed that it is the procedure.
“That’s the procedure. You have to give grounds for the cancellation of the passport and those grounds will be based on the cases that will be filed,” he said.
Recently, Marcos Jr. also spoke on those who are involved in the flood control corruption in the country.
