Batangas Tourism Officer Lost His Life While Trying to Save Drowning Swimmer
A dedicated tourism officer lost his life while trying to save a drowning swimmer at a local beach in Calatagan, Batangas.
On Tuesday, November 11, 2025, a tragic incident took the life of a tourism officer who drowned while helping rescue a drowning swimmer at a beach in Barangay Sta. Ana.
According to the Philippine Coast Guard (PCG) Sub-Station Calatagan, the incident happened around 2:00 p.m. when they received a report about a drowning at a beach resort.

Initial findings revealed that the victim, identified as Marlon Evangelista Del Carmen, an employee of the Calatagan Tourism Office, tried to assist a lifeguard who was already conducting a rescue operation for a drowning swimmer.
The lifeguard successfully saved the swimmer, but Marlon suddenly went missing during the rescue. Responders immediately launched a search and rescue operation. After several minutes, members of the Coast Guard found Marlon and brought him to shore, where they performed CPR in an effort to revive him.
He was quickly taken to the Calatagan Medicare Center with the help of the Municipal Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Office (MDRRMO), but doctors later declared him dead on arrival.
